As an International spokesperson for bullying prevention, I am always looking for effective and research-based tools to help children understand the implications of bullying. After assessing The Cool School program, I am impressed with the curriculum and especially the quality of animation. Cool School places engaging animated characters in real-life situations involving bystanders and targets. Children interact with the scenes by making choices that have a positive or negative impact. This demonstrates consequences and provides them with effective tools to model on their own. I would recommend that every elementary school use this fantastic program!

I just wanted to let you know how things are going with the two groups I am working with. The students are loving the program! It seems to me that the students are being honest and we have had some good conversations about bullying. They have brought up situations at school and home. By watching the videos we are able to connect real life situations and ways to handle them with the video characters.

The ​Cool School curriculum has been met with enthusiasm from our students. I have been able to refer back to scenarios that were depicted in the Cool School webisodes as examples of how to make positive behavior choices when counseling students in conflict or when other social challenges have arisen. The webisodes are engaging and serve to reinforce our system of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports at Watson Elementary. We have a drop box where students may report when they have concerns regarding bullying, I have not had report of any notes in the box since the inception of the Cool School program in early October. Several different students are also reporting to me in varied school environments that they are “Secret Agents” and on the lookout for bullying on the playground.

I know the students will love the animation, and the content aligns perfectly with our positive behavioral support programs.
